The most popular of all Newport attractions are the Newport mansions, however, Newport Rhode Island offers many choices for visitors. Art galleries and museums offer an array of works in various mediums. Not to be missed are Newport vineyards and our own microbrewery - each offering tastings and tours daily. Throughout Newport there is statuary depicting Newport Rhode Island's rich and colorful history. Self guided walking tours through colonial neighborhoods, the Cliffwalk and Ocean Drive are not to be missed Newport attractions as well. Mansions Newport Rhode Island is famous for it's Gilded Age Mansions. Tours schedules vary by season, are reasonably priced and offer parking. The Newport mansions are a must see while while on vacation. Keep in mind that most were only lived in for the six week summer season. Vineyards There are several local vineyards offering tours and tastings daily. The long warm summer and mild winter is the perfect climate for growing grapes that become world-class wines. Many Newport restaurants offer local vintages for local wineries. Be sure to sample them while here. Hot-tip: Bring a loaf of bread and some cheese with you as these are great places to have an impromptu picnic.
Breweries Newport is home to Coastal Extreme Brewing Company. They offer tours and tastings every Friday at 6pm and their beer is proudly featured at most of Newport bars and restaurants. Their signature brew, Hurricane Amber Ale is excellent as well as their new offerings which vary by season. If your visit to Newport includes a bar, try one of their beers - you won't be disappointed.
Historic Spots As Newport, ri is a walking town, you'll notice the beautiful statuary located throughout the city. Christopher Columbus, Commodore Matthew Perry, and more are scattered amid Colonial and Victorian homes. The oldest synagogue in America is located in Newport as well as many historic churches as Newport was founded on the principle of religious freedom.
